After changing my AOL passwords for two accounts today, I was able to generate a login password from AOL and log into Thunderbird with my AOL accounts. However, one of the two accounts will not send email from Thunderbird, but will on my iPhone and iPad. The other AOL account is working fine. I also verified that the SMTP port is 465. So I have done everything on my end, I think there's a Thunderbird glitch.

(The topic is the closest I could pick from the dropdown.)

After a disaster last October appearing after a macOS update, I have been working to get back to where all is normal. Apple asked me to erase and reinstall macOS. I was using TBird (some struggles) right up to doing the erase. My question:

Is there some data in the backup ups of the profiles that identifies the TBird version that was last using the profile?

This might also help me: is there is some data in the .app files that identifies what version of TBird the Package "file" is for.

Thanks for your help.

Thunderbird 138/139, Windows 11 Pro 23H2. While composing a message, after a few lines the app freezes. Both the compose window and the main TB window freeze. Only opening the Windows Task manager allows me to close them. This did not happen with earlier versions.

If I save the message every few seconds while composing I can get most of the message back and continue after restarting TB. This behavior is the same in both the normal and troubleshooting TB modes. I can't even find a crash log to send to Mozilla.

Where shall I look next?

Thank you!

I just upgraded to Thurderbird V. 139, and my inbox looks completely different, which must have been part of this release intentionally, with every message summary now in an outlined rounded rect box, rather than beiung presented as a simple one line of table. Is there a way to go back to the old look? It let me see way more message summaries at one time, even when the new look is on high density. Thanks!

Hi, I have been using Lightning Calendar for as long as I can remember. As part of an ongoing personal data security task, after having my online account hacked, I recently I moved my Calendar Data from the GMX servers to my Synology NAS, Using Caldav I can synchronise data between my Android Phone & my PC, keeping all my data private. It has been working fine for a few months so I move my Wifes calendar data over as well, and that worked great as well. However, I have now come up with a problem, sometimes if I edit an event in on my PC any changes made will not save, however, if I make changes on either my Android Phone or through my browser they do.

So, I think this is possibly an issue with Thunderbird, any suggestions please.

Stu

Note. My address book syncs and can be edited on all devices.

Hi all,

Whenever I send a meeting invite to another person from my calendar and I include any text in the "Description" tab of the invite, that text from the description gets put into an invite.ics file and it sent as an attachment. People using Microsoft Outlook (unfortunately still a lot of people) do not see the description text: People using the "old outlook" cannot seem to open it at all (their outlook tells them "there is no previewer installed for it"), and "new outlook" will open it but only after an extra double-click on the attachment, which is unfortunately too much to ask for certain users.

So, the result is that I cannot invite people to an online meeting because the link to the conferencing tool is hidden in the invite.ics file.

How can I send an invite where the invite text + link are directly visible to Outlook users?

I'm running Thunderbird 128.11.0esr, no active add-ons that seem related to this.

Thanks in advance!

I recently had to transfer the domain associated with my e-mail account. With help from the admins at the domain registry, I altered the account settings in Thunderbird. I got errors which said: "Sending of usernamedid not succeed. Mail server pop.servername responded: invalid format for plain response" The server settings were: Connection security: STARTTLS Authentication method: Normal Password We changed Connection security to SSL/TLS We still got the same response.

I set up Thunderbird on a laptop in the same house, & the account was working fine, both sending and receiving. The only problem was that the e-mails in the inbox were from that point in time and all my old e-mails were not shown.

I have tried backing up the profile on my original computer, uninstaling and re-installing Thunderbird, and I nstill get the same problem. So I am thinking backup the e-mails from the profile, remove everything Thunderbird, (Program + profile), from the original computer, then re-install Thunderbird and setup the account (as I did on the laptop), and then restore the old e-mails if the account is successfully working. The problem that I have with this approach is I do not know how to backup & restore just the e-mails from a profile without all the other settings and configurations associated with that profile.

Any advice with regards to this situation would be gratefully received.

Regards,

Neil Harland

First when I try to write an email I put the op name in the To: box but the contact list from my address book I imorted from my new outlook(I do not have 365)does not work -there is nothing. I need the simplest way to synchronize the address book with the To: when I send an email. 2 I'm confused about export and import. I always thought I import from something and then I export to something but it seems that Thunderbird commingles the two terms. I was trying to import from my outlook new to Thunderbird. Is it a matter of language or understanding? Thunderbird seems to work except for the above mentioned feature. Please explain? 5-29-25

The 13x version appears to have introduced a bug.

When pasting links into emails, and then "inserting" the link, if you try to add any advanced options to the link (i.e. target=_blank), it doesn't create the link.

If you simply "insert" the link without setting any advanced options, then the link is created.
